Adriamycin is given as a push but the length of the push is greater than 15 minutes, can you still bill this as a push or should it be billed as an infusion?

If it is ordered as a push, you would still code it as a push. We were told by the nursing staff that they manually push this drug and that sometimes it does go over 15 min, but it is considered a push.

Hope that helps :)

Thank you, it does help. We administer this in a syringe and the nurse did push the med but I am being told that since the time is greater than 15 minutes it should be billed as an infusion, which I disagree with.
Thanks again!
