Advice and Prescriptions re Travel Medications

During well child visit mom advised she would be taking her 2 year old to Africa and asked about medications required prior to travel. How do we bill the time we spent after the visit to research this and then call in the prescriptions? What CPT / ICD-9 codes? There was no office visit subsequent to the well child visit.

you cant bill to do research. You already saw the patient and billed visit. If you had a patient with a strange ailment you wouldn't bill time spent looking for diagnosis. Nor would you bill calling in rx.
Hope this helps
