Can anyone help me clarify the difference between CPT 82043- urine (micro albumin) quantitative and 82044- urine (micoalbumin) semi quantitative (reagent strip assay)
Is one meant to be done in house and the other sent to a lab?

82043 is quantitative.

82044 is semiquantitative

A quantitative test would give you an exact value. A semiquantitative test would give you an approximate value - for example, using a dipstick to give an approximate value by matching a color to a card.

This link from the National Kidney Foundation explains the difference in layman's terms under the types of tests section: https://www.kidney.org/atoz/content/uacr
