A client recently inquired about the administration of Aloxi. She is claiming that they had been told in the past that Aloxi could not be billed when it was pushed at the same time as a running IV. I was not aware of this so I am reaching out to see if anyone else has experience with this or if I need to re-educate them.

What substance or drug is in the "running IV?" If it is saline then yes, Aloxi can be reported as an IV push or 96374. If the drug running in the IV is chemotherapy, I would code the push of Aloxi as 96375 but it all depends on what is in that "running IV." Please clarify for a more in depth answer.
