I have a question about interpretation date of service for ambulatory EEG 95953-26. Say the pt had an ambulatory EEG for 72 hours. Novitas states the date of service for the interpretation is the date the physician read the study. if that is the case, per CPT book only one per 24 hours. does anyone know where I can find information on proper coding of a ambulatory EEG 95953.
Example:
test started 6-24-2014 ended 06/27/2014
6-25-2014: 95953-26
6-26-2014: 95953-26
6-27-2014: 95953-26
this is how we bill now for ambulatory even though he may have read it on 6-29-14.
when we were billing say 95953-26 with 3 units we were getting denied.
any help would be appreciated.
