I was wondering if a hospital has a ambulatory surgical center within the facilty that is considered freestanding, then should their place of service be 24 or 22. My facilty states that they must use 22, is this true and what is the basis of this?

To my knowledge a free standing ASC is one that is not attached to a hospital. We are a free standing ASC in Bismarck and are not associated with either hospital in Bismarck.:) We use 24 as a place of service. If you are in questions which to use, call Nouridian in Fargo and ask. They will let you know which your facility should use.
