Hello.
MD did great toe amputation but there was a deep abscess at the level of MTP joint so he "transected the first metatarsal at the midpoint level with a microoscillating saw". Next he noticed an ulcer on the dorsum of the foot that was "deep to the dorsal midfoot with extensor tendons exposed" so he performed an extensor tenotomy.
Codes we have are 28122, 28820 and 28234.
28122 bundles into 28820.
28234 bundles into 28122.
Can/should I append 59 to 28122 and 28234 or is there a more appropriate code inclusive of all three procedures; extensor tenotomy, partial bone excision metatarsal, and amputation?
