I recently had an anesthesiologist who underwent a knee surgery and subsequently performed his own post operative pain block - my question is, can I bill this to the insurance despite the Provider also being the patient? I've never seen anything like this before and am slightly stumped...if anyone has any input it would be much appreciated :)

I would vote no. Is he going to send a bill to himself if the insurance does not pay or for the balance due if the insurance carrier does make some sort of payment? I am not an expert on that type of scenario, but I cannot imagine an insurance carrier would pay for this.
