A pedi pt has status asthmaticus with respiratory failure and is in PICU. Our Anesthesiologist not only intubates earlier in the day prior to being transferred to the PICU but ends up administrating anesthesia overnight (ketamine/sevoflurane/rocuronium). How can this be reported if there is no surgery to crosswalk? (10hrs almost) If the anesthesia codes are not used, how can this service be billed appropriately? An anesthesia record was used throughout the time and presence was documented as if the patient was in the operating room.
