Hello
Hoping to get some education on which unit value(s) should be submitted when coding Anesthesia CPT (00100-01999 series)
I have not coded this since 2003 and decided to re-educate myself on the coding
They are related IP surgeries ProFee Anesthesia coding
Which of the two scenarios is the proper way to submit units on a providers charge:
Total unit(s) submitted based solely on anesthesiologists documented start & end time (105 min) =7 units on charge; with the appropriate modifiers and Qualifying Circumstances (if applicable)
(if this is the proper way to submit, are the Base and Physical Status Modifier units processed/converted by the payer for appropriate reimbursement to the practice or facility?
Or, total units of Base Code (00148=4U) + Time (7U) + PSM (P3=1U) =14 total units on charge; with the appropriate modifiers and Qualifying Circumstances (if applicable)
Thank you for any information that you can provide
