We are being told by Medicare (South Dakota coder) that there is another modifier we should be using besides -62 for co-surgery? Anyone know what modifier they are talking about?

the only thing I can think of is maybe they are thinking assistant surgeon *@ or surgical team 66. I would contact them to verify what they are asking for. I am baffold just as you are.

when you billed the cosurgery, did both surgeons involved bill exactly the same code with the 62 modifier? This is how it must be done. Plus each surgeon must document their own procedure note.

Co-management surgery should be modifed as followed -79-54 this is how we do the co-management if it is a LT or RT we add 3 Modifiers so it reads 7954LT

No this would not be correct for co surgeons. I am not sure what you mean by co management.. can you explain more with example?
