If you received requisition slip, and the physician wrote on Antibiotics or stated 2 days remaining on Zpak, how would you feel comfortable coding that account? We have been using "long term antibiotic therapy" for years, but as ICD 10 rolled out, it has recently brought up questions on the accuracy of medication coding. Typically antibiotics are not prescribed long term, unless otherwise stated; but should we just continue to code the Z79.2?
