This issue comes up frequently with one of the surgeons in the practice I work for. Most recently, he performed a CTR (64721), GCR (64719), and removed a schwannoma from the median nerve (64790). I coded for the CTR and GCR, but eliminated the excision of the schwannoma as bundled.
The surgeon insist that the schwannoma is the primary procedure and that it should have been billed. How do I convince the surgeon the procedures are indeed bundled and I coded for the maximum reimbursement? Even the documentation from the Ingenix book that demonstrates the bundling issues does not help.
Are there any other resources available that can back up my positions when it comes to bundling issues?
