Wiki anyone famimliar with NCCI ?

Our billing company informed me to become familiar with NCCI. I went on CMS Website and read the manual about the indicator columns... They mentioned a manual AND before I jump into this - IS THIS NECESSARY? Our field is Orthopaedic Surgery. Thank you.

absolutely! NCCI (CCI) edits are where you learn when code pairs might be acceptable with a modifier or are never acceptable with any modifier. these edits are updated every quarter. this is also called bundled edits. however it does not mean just add a modifier, it means if the documentation is sufficient and the circumstance is correct THEN you can add a modifier to bypass the edits.
