Our physicians are now ordering and overseeing the apheresis procedures (36511-36516) in the hospital. The hospital bills the procedure but I see in the CPT book that it states Code also modifier 26 for a professional evaluation. I am wondering if when the physician sees the pt in the hospital during the procedure do they bill a subsequent visit or do they bill the apheresis code with a modifier 26?
