We have a provider that is ordering a lab 81401. It isn’t bumping up against any of the ABN flags or Medical Necessity because the test is put in as a misc. lab. My boss has asked me to try and find if there are any ICD codes that would cover this. I have been looking but I am having a hard time finding anything, and can someone verify if what I read on CMS is correct that this is a tier 2 code and is not medically necessary, so it would be denied by medicare. I would appreciate any help. Please and thank you in advance.
