after the appendix is removed, there is purulent fluid found and aspirated in the perihepatic space, can you code additionaly for that or would it be considered incident to?
 
Perforated appendix?

Without seeing the operative report, sounds inclusive to appendectomy.

Could this have been a performated appendix? Lay description of CPT 44960: The physician removes a perforated appendix. The physician makes an abdominal incision. The appendix is identified and mobilized, its blood supply is divided, and the appendix is transected and removed. The abscess cavity is debrided and irrigated. The incision is closed.
