good afternoon
33249 is for insertion of single or dual chamber ICD which is on the G list stating anesth should be given by the cardiologist.
33224 is for insertion of the lead in the LV. This is more complicated and this code is not on the G list, so an anesthesiologist may be present.
I have read that 33249 and 33225 are the proper way to code for the initial insertion of the Biventricular implant but that puts me back on the G list. How do I code for anesthesia to show that the initial LV was implanted without submitting a code on the G list.
I am trying to educate the physicians and it does not make sense when the cpt book states they can provide services for the upgrade but not the initial insertion.
thanks
