Good morning everyone!

I wanted to see if someone could clarify my question about how to determine what would be the appropriate level of an office visit would be? Is is only based on time and supporting documentation or does the time matter even if the documentation is there? Thanks

Time and E/M codes

Time is use for any E/M code that is time specific (e.g. discharge day management, critical care, or prolonged service)

Time is also used to determine the level of service when the rules/guidelines for "counseling/coordination of care" are being used.

Otherwise, E/M levels are dependent on meeting the requirements of the particular code.

Hope that helps.
