Does anyone know what an APV coder means or what they code? I was looking at a possible position however I have never heard the term "APV coder", and if it is not something I am qualified for, no sense in applying.

The closest acronym I come up with is Ambulatory Procedure Visit

APV Coder

I coded APV's when I worked for the DoD at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. It stands for Ambulatory Patient Visit, which is another way of saying outpatient/same day surgeries. I coded for all specialties but most were for GI (colonoscopy, EGD), Pulmonology (bronchoscopy), General Surgery (lots of hernia repairs, appy's, cholecystectomy) and Orthopedics (arthroscopy, joint replacements). Depending on the facility you might also see Cardiac Cath's, Breast procedures, Ophthalmology & Urology.
