These denials can be a challenge. Is there any other information, i.e. additional denial codes or text? If Medicaid is saying the patient has other insurance, you'll need to call the patient and find out what other insurance they have and bill that. If the patient doesn't have any other insurance, then he/she will need to contact Medicaid to let them know there is no other coverage...or contact their case worker/county worker. Sometimes the payer is waiting for the patient to fill out coordination of benefits paperwork or waiting for the patient to return a phone call re: cob. You can contact the patient and remind them they need to do that if that's the case. If it's the matter of a phone call and the patient is unable or unwilling to do that, I have staged conference calls between patients and payers - and gotten the needed dialogue done that way.
These can take time and effort to resolve but it's the only way you're going to get paid. Hope this helps.
