Good Afternoon,

I work for a billing company and one of our clients who until now just provided regular office visit/procedures to patients had a provider who recently got the Psychiatric-Mental health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) certification.

Does anyone work with NPs who have this? What types of codes are they billing? As I was doing some research I am thinking they are going to be wanting to bill for 90791-90792 as well as Psychotherapy codes .90832 - 90838. I do not have any experience with billing for these types of codes so any insight would be appreciated.

I’m in WI and we have a provider with the same credentials. She bills her visits with evaluation and management office visit codes along with the psychotherapy codes you listed; we also bill screening codes (depression etc…) Check your state Medicaid if they require a modifier on the psychotherapy codes, we use UB.
