ASC carpal tunnel during global of other

I bill for an ASC. I have a denial for a R carpal tunnel (64721) and the L was performed the week prior. According to AAPC there is no global period (other than the same day of service) however, CMS says that it applies to all the inpatient and outpatient hospital and ASC. Does anyone have any guidance to provide? Thanks in advance!
