Hello,

Has anyone coded a 93580 when the device did not deploy across the ASD in the correct manner and required removal?

Our Physician did extra work, but ultimately had to remove the device in the same session. Is it OK to bill 93580 or should I just bill the Cath?

Thanks

I have a different scenario, Dr. removed amplatzer ASD device and closured secundum ASD defect. Would removal of device bundle with CPT 33641 or is there a removal code.

Thanks!

Maybe consider modifier 53 (a surgical procedure was started but discontinued) on the 93580 as the physician attempted to deploy the device but would not deploy across the ASD and required removal? I would consider that "extenuating circumstances."
