My doctor has a patient who has breast implants. One of the implants has ruptured and the breast has "deflated". My doctor wants to aspirated, under fluoroscopy, the contents of her nonruptued implant in her other breast to "deflate" that breast. He also want to leave the "emptied" implant in the patient for 9-12 mos, to have tissue grow back around. Then take the patient back to the OR to remove the implants. My doctor wants her to have the aspiration of the material done in radiology. The patient would like to know of the aspiration of the implant material will be covered by her insurance. What code would I use for the aspiration/removal of the implant material?

Thanks in advance for your time and help
Kristy

*Edit* sorry i was thinking DX not CPT

Whether its covered may depend on the payer and whether implant was for cosmetic purposes or breast cancer reconstruction. Probably needs a Prior auth by the payer as well.
