Hey guys !

I would appreciate if you can help me with below.

Our cardiologist has done stenting in the major coronary artery and then he found thrombus formation and as an emergency case he performed aspiration thrombectomy.

I informed doctor that this is not billable. Can anyone provide documentation where I can show the doctor saying this is not billable or please let me know if I can bill this.

Per Dr. Zielske, "Percutaneous coronary arterial MECHANICAL THROMBECTOMY (92973) is an add-on procedure to a diagnostic coronary angiogram and to other interventions performed in the coronary arteries such as angioplasty or stent placement. It is separately reimbursed. The AngioJet catheter is an example of a coronary artery mechanical thrombectomy device."

Aspiration thrombectomies are not billable and included in the intervention. If the patient was having a stemi, 92941 includes the aspiration thrombectomy.
