Hello, the doctor who I code for did an assist with a C/S, I am being told because we assisted that we don't code outcome of delivery. Please advise if this is correct. I am fairly new to OB coding.
 
I always code the assist to match the primary surgeon's claim. I have never heard anywhere to leave the delivery outcome off a claim and I am not sure why you would. I actually have a payer who denies delivery claims if they are missing the gestational weeks and/or delivery outcome.
