Greetings,
When coding an "attempted aspiration" that turns out to be unsuccessful due to no fluid being withdrawn, would you still code the CPT code for aspiration? If so, would you append -52 for reduced services? Or would you simply code the CPT code for needle placement under ultrasonic guidance, since the aspirate portion was not successful but still attempted?
