ATTEMPTED PTA OF RIGHT COMMON ILIAC ARTERY:

PROCEDURE AND DETAIL:

After informed consent was obtained the patient was brought to the
imaging suite where the right femoral artery was cannulated and
subsequently a 6 French sheath was advanced into the common iliac.
Multiple and balloons were used in an attempt to cross the chronic total
occlusion of the external iliac into the common iliac. However, despite
this, this was unsuccessful and eventfully the procedure was aborted.

I think I would just code the cannulation of the right femoral 36140, You cant code for sheath placement in the iliac and since the balloon could NOT cross the occlusion of the external iliac I would not use the PTA code.I lean towards the conservative side.
