Hello,
Patient has audio only discussion with provider after recent diagnosis of genetic mutation following diagnosis for cancer. Patient had planned for surgical intervention, but mutation diagnosis offered up additional surgical options. Patient and provider had 30 minute discussion of new surgical options and determination of new plan of care. Is this billable as an audio-only E/M? I am unsure because surgery was scheduled, but new diagnosis altered plan and a significant discussion was had.
Part 2: Now that the telehealth flexibilities have expired, would this be covered if patient was in their home? CIGNA indicates in their Virtual Care policy that claims will be reimbursed with POS 02, my assumption is they will only cover audio-only at the approved originating sites other than patients home.
I appreciate any insight. Thanks
