I have several cases (nephrectomies) where the assistant surgeon is dictating the operative report. On the operative report under "surgeon" both physicians are listed... and no assistant surgeon is listed. My question is this: can an assistant dictate a surgery report? Doesn't the primary surgeon need to dictate?
