Is anyone receiving denials on B34.9 ( Viral Infection unspecified) as a primary code? If so, what code can replace this?

I'm having the same issue. I have stopped using Viral codes all together unless I have a respiratory panel back that gives me the actual virus. I have been using symptoms to code for the visits. It sucks, but what else are we supposed to do when the Dr knows its VIRAL, but not WHAT VIRUS it is. Are we magically supposed to pick a virus out of the air?? It can't always be that specific. :(

I am seeing this as well. Are you coding just the signs and symptoms or the signs and symptoms with the Viral Infection code afterwards?
