Not sure how to code this. Lap RNY Gastric Bypass with Laparoscopic Partial
Gastrectomy. In the op report, the surgeon mentions that after the gastric pouch was created, the proximal half of the remnant stomach appeared dusky and he feared vascular compromise. The remnant stomach was staple divided. The partial gastric resection of the remnant stomach was then removed and discarded. Specimen was not sent to pathology. Is this part of the RNY? or should I use a partial gastrectomy code with a modifier?? Stumped on this one.
