Prior to peforming gastric banding (43770), physician encounters a hiatal hernia and disects the hernia. Is the hernia repair billable or is this considered incidental to the banding and can not be billed. pre procedure dx is morbid obesity, sleep apnea, GERD post procedure dx is morbid obesity, sleep apnea, GERD and hiatal hernia.

You would bill 43770, 39502-59. You can get paid for this secondary procedure with the primary procedure of 43770.
