Morning,
We provide urinalysis testing (G0479) for our new patients in order to be aware of what patients are taking both legally and illegally in order to properly prescribe narcotic therapy if it is warranted. As sometimes these patients have not taken opiates we are unable to use diagnosis code Z79.891, to indicate long term opiate use. Is there possibly a baseline diagnosis we are not aware of? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
