I billed the office visit 99213 with dx J02.9, Z20.822.
The flu test 87804 with only J11.1
The strep test 87880 with only J20.9

I know that the J20.9 and J11.1 cannot be billed together. But the patient tested positive for both and I billed the dx on separate lines. Can anyone help with this?

What was the denial remark code?

Also, if the patient tested positive and was diagnosed with strep throat, why are you using J02.9 (acute pharyngitis NOS) on your office visit instead of J02.0 (Streptococcal pharyngitis)? (I don't know what the documentation said, so I'm only going by the fact that you said the patient tested positive for strep.)
