For the bedside ultrasound what needs to be documented in order to bill for it? Can a NP do it? Would it need to be reviewed by a MD? Reference the notes below and advise. Thank you!

Keep in mind the CPT guideline that use of ultrasound without thorough evaluation of organ(s) or anatomic region, image documentation and final written report is not separately reportable. So there needs to be a stated reason as to why the scan was medically indicated and a hard copy for the chart as well as the interpretation by the person who has the qualifications to read the ultrasound. If the NP has such training to interpret, she/he can bill, but again I do not see a stated indication and just the statement breech does not describe the breech position in any detail and to my mind does not meet the documentation requirements.
