Can anyone offer clarification regarding the use of Behavior Change Intervention Codes 99406-99409? There is a 'Telemedicine' Symbol next to these codes. After reading the preface to Appendix P in the CPT, I assume that these codes are not used exclusively for Telemedicine services but rather these codes are eligible for use when service is provided via telemedicine option. Also, please confirm if these codes can be used with Preventative Medicine E/M codes as well as problem E/M visits. I thought I understood that Medicare deemed counseling to be part of the Preventative Medicine E/M visit but now I am second guessing my interpretation. Thank you!
