Hi I was wondering if anyone used a Betamethasone combo code J7999 . We were originally coding it as J0702 but was told because it was a compounded drug to code it as J7999 . Any in put would be helpful.

That sounds correct to me - if the drug was compounded, then J7999 is appropriate. J0702 would be for an uncompounded preparation that would have an NDC number. I'm surprised you were able to bill J0702 successfully as many payers wouldn't accept that HCPCS code without a matching NDC number attached to it.

Betamethasone is a combined medication distributed that way. The correct code is J0702 and the NDC is 00517-0720-01 for 6mg/ml. It comes in a multidose vial of 5ml.
Compounded Beta (like referred to in the first post) is not the same as J0702 which has 3mg of beta phosphate and 3mg of Beta Acetate. So J0702 is not appropriate.

I'm having the same issue with compounded Beta.
