Doctor is going to perform Bilateral Carotic Vertebral Angiography. Is appropriate code 75685? Insurance sent back an auth for 75650, I am confused as to which is the correct way to code the procedure? It will be done in the hospital in cath lab so we need appropriate code for authorization. Please, any help is appreciated!

Does anyone have an idea of the proper codes for this procedure? Thanks!!!!!

you will probably be coding a 4 vessel (bilateral carotids and bilateral vertebrals), you should get these codes approved (at least), chances are good you will code most of them, if not all:

36217
36216
36215
36218
75685
75680
75671

If they do unilateral carotids only the imaging codes are:
75676
75665

and yes, modifier 50 may need to be applied to 75685.

HTH :)
