One of our behavioral health providers, who is a PsyD, consulted for an hour phone call with the school of a child patient. The call was to coordinate a treatment plan. Our provider is wondering if there is a way to bill insurance for this. I searched a bit but honestly could find nothing definitive.

The commercial insurance company I work for would not cover this as it is not providing direct treatment to the child who is the patient. You might find some Medicaid plans that may cover it but that would be a very specialized situation. You would need to contact your local Medicaid administrator to find out whether it is covered and if so what code to bill the service with.
