I work for a physicians office that asks the patient's to get there annual lab work done before there physical. The hospital that we send our patient's to get the lab work done is saying they cannot get lab work done before the physical. They are stating that this doesn't meet medical necessity. Can you please lead me to where I can find this information.
Thank you

I'll be interested to hear what other's say about this. I work for a PCP/Internal Medicine practice and this is very common; patients request to go their labs done prior to their annual physicals all the time and we have never had any issues.

Many payers are no longer accepting Z00.00 for labwork. You will need to know and code whether these are for screening or for drug monitoring or for whatever the reason for a particular study. I have work numerous denials from payers for the use of Z00.00 for lab work.

Agreed with Debra; if your physician is using Z00.00 for the labs this could be the reason.
