We have a third party billing agency that is telling me we can bill for the clips used in laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedures as implants.

Have you found this to be true? My administrator and myself are hesitant to bill for these since they absorb into the body like suture, and you can't bill for that.

Any thoughts on this? :)

You'd THINK the lap chole clips would be a global component of the surgical/laparoscopic procedure in an ASC....and not separately billable..... just a thought.

I do bill for them with HCPCS C1760, but recently we had an insurance deny because they did not consider them an implant.

It looks like they're being consistently denied by the major private payors here as well, but our service is billing for them using A4649.

Thank you for the input! :)
