I have a NeuroPsychologist in our practice that wants to bill a feedback session (CPT 90834) for behavioral health over the phone....when it’s inconvenient for the patient to come back into the office because they live a few hours away or they went to Europe for the summer or whatever. By the way, this question is a general question and has nothing to do with the new COVID TeleHealth guidelines.
1. Can a psychologist bill for a feedback session over the phone just by using Cpt codes 99441-99443....are there different telephone codes that should be used?
2. Is reimbursement for these codes contingent on the patients insurance carrier & plan?
3. Can the psychologist go ahead and bill the CPT code 90834 with a modifier 02 signify it was done over the phone?
