Hi all,
When billing for CRNA's, am I correct in stating that we don't use the modifier AA for them. Also can someone verify the CRNA modifiers and their usage please.
Thanks for all your help in advance,

"AA" is an Anesthesiologist (MD) modifier only and is used when the anesthesiologist performs the anesthesia services personally with no CRNA or Resident present. CRNA modifiers are: QX, QY, QZ, the QX & QY should be billed with the QK or AD if they are overseeing more than 4 cases for Anesthesiologist (MD).

All the modifiers are on the CMS website and also in the RVU guide.

If you are billing for a CRNA who is medically directed by an MDA you would use the QX modifier. If the CRNA is the only provider on the case and is not medically directed then use QZ.

Hope that Helps!
