My doctor did the following:

1) Sent a patient to a lab for a blood test.

2) Received a blood test report from the lab.

Questions:

A) Can my doctor bill 84153-26 for reading, evaluating
and discussing the report with the patient?

B) Can my doctor bill 84153-26 and an E/M code (99212)
for the same date of service?

Thanks!

99212 can only be billed if there was a face-to-face visit. The modifier 26 on the lab is accurate for a read only. Vanessa

I disagree - 84153 is a clinical lab/automated test that does not have a professional component - it would be incorrect to bill 84153-26 for this and there is no separate reimbursement for interpretation of this test. The physician's interpretation is inclusive to the E&M services.

On a side note, please refrain from posting your questions multiple times in the forum - it's really not necessary and incidentally is against the forum rules, thanks.
