We have several doctors that go to a different facility and then we bill the reading and interpretation of the EKG. For this part, the 93010, do we report the date the EKG was rendered or the date that the doctor signs/interprets it? I know for the holter monitors, there was an article in AAPC in July that stated we were to report the date that the physician signs/interprets it. Do these guidelines apply to EKG's too? Any references are appreciated.

Thank u,

Josie

I use date that EKG was performed - didnot give it a thought as to date read - will be interested in knowing if I'm billing correctly - Thanks

According to CMS, you are to report any professional services including the reads of diagnostic tests, on the day of the interpretation/report; not the day of the actual test.
