Hello,

I work for a pain management office. On rare occasions, one doc will insert a lumbar indwelling cath (62327) and the patient will come back in the office each day for a few days in a row to receive a bolus of medication. It's just a push, not an infusion of medication. I've been asked on a few occasions now if there is something else the office/doc can bill for these follow up visits with the bolus. I was thinking that due to the description of 62327 that there isn't another code to bill and that we just bill an E&M for when the patients come back in. Today I learned following their visit and the bolus injection, patients are kept in the office for 3-4 hours for observation before they are released. These services are provided in the clinic. I feel like I've got to be missing something and look forward to any suggestions. TIA
