Wiki billing for embolization coils

I saw the previous answer in 2008 regarding embolization coils and what was the HCPCS for the device. the answer was the device is included in the procedure. Is this still accurate?

I would disagree with that response. Assuming this procedure was done in a hospital, the facility would bill any supplies used in the procedure as a separate line item. Implantable devices almost always have an associated HCPCS codes, and if there is no assigned HCPCS code for the particular item, then an unlisted code would be used. C1884 might be appropriate for this item, however you may wish to contact the manufacturer for additional information.

Although the payment for supplies is usually packaged into the overall case rate payment for the procedure, it is still appropriate to report these items separately.
