Does anyone know of a code to bill for rental of equipment. I am specifically questioning a code for a CO2 Laser. It costs $750 to rent and our surgeon would like to start utilizing it more, but not enough to purchase one. Thanks!
 
In the past when we have utilized rental equipment, we billed with a RR modifier to indicate rental. We also dropped the claim to paper with a copy of the vendor's rental fee. You really need to look at your contract for the carrier in question to determine if the carrier pays for use of unusual supplies, equipment, etc. I hope this helps. We always check the carrier before scheduling the procedure.
